Kyamba Lodge has room for 5 retired herd horses at one time – as the spaces are limited this is an option that will not be readily available however as many of the horses are aged and living out the remainder of their days with some close friends and good feed, you are welcome to place your horse on the waiting list.
These horses have access to pasture 24/7 and will rotate around the property in their group of 5 cleaning paddocks of excess feed as they go. If pasture is not abundant then hay will be provided at no additional charge, these horses are to have their weight maintained to the owners preference and generally do so without additional feeding. If however the pasture and or hay is not enough to maintain the required condition the horses may need to be placed in other areas of the property where different feeding options are available at different boarding rates.
In this instance the boarding rates are inclusive of 24/7 care however unlike all other boarding options is inclusive of hay feeding if pasture levels are not sufficient. The paddocks will not have steel structures for shade instead there will be trees for shelter and lovely safe fencing. Winter rugs are also provided to the older horses as are facilities for grooming and cleaning your horses as required.
