Dora

Welcome Dora to our team!

Dora is a 12 year old Standardbred whom has bred and raced by the Kyamba Park Racing team for many years – she was a great competitive little horse on the track winning multiple races and always running her best. Dora’s lovely ground manners and high work ethic were too good for us not to try and introduce a career change into her life once she was retired from racing.

Dora has been under saddle now for 1 year and in this time has had very little work but has enjoyed trying out several disciplines, all of which she has taken to like a duck in water. Her flexibility and very high intelligence has seen her embrace reining and western riding with style – she has attended club days all year as well as a show where she placed 3rd in her class with a very good score. This year we intend to improve on these skills and our focus will be to have her ready for her next forever home or find her a regular rider who can take her through the levels in this field.

If you are looking for a smart horse with no shortness of forward and a fit partner to enjoy a leisurely ride out or a boot camp in lateral skills this is the horse for you!

If you are worried about your balance or confidence fear not as Dora can take care of you with ease – if canter makes you nervous – Dora is happy to trot all day, however her canter is the smoothest of gaits and you will feel like you are gliding across the ground. If you are ever worried or have a fear of riding in open spaces this is the horse for you, either on her back or in the cart she is reliable and trustworthy, but above all the most honest horse to leave your trust with.
